Technology continues to reduce the time between wanting something and receiving it. Messages arrive immediately. Answers appear in seconds. Decisions that once required days can now be prepared before a meeting begins.
This speed is useful. But I have learned that the speed available to us should not automatically become the pace expected of us.
Some understanding requires distance. Some conversations need silence between words. Some life decisions become clearer only after the pressure to answer has passed. The intelligent age may help us move faster, but it should not decide how quickly every part of life must be lived.
Efficiency is valuable when it returns time to us. It becomes costly when it teaches us to feel behind whenever we are moving at a human pace.
Technology may accelerate the world around us, but the pace of a meaningful life should still belong to us.
