Organisations need people who follow important procedures. Without discipline, quality becomes inconsistent and risk becomes difficult to control. But every rule was written from an earlier understanding of the work.
I have learned that the person who notices where a rule no longer serves its purpose should not automatically be treated as difficult. They may be protecting the organisation from continuing a practice that has quietly become outdated.
The distinction lies in how they respond. Do they bypass the rule for personal convenience? Or do they explain the problem, protect the underlying standard, and help build a better approach?
AI will expose more exceptions and patterns than people could previously see. The organisation should value those who turn that visibility into responsible improvement.
Good employees follow the rule; valuable employees also help the organisation recognise when the rule must learn.
