Short Short Reflection 70

The Body Needs a Rhythm, Not a Command

Reflection 70 · On Rhythm

1-min read · Looking Inward

Executive life often trains us to treat the body as something that should respond whenever required. Work late. Wake early. Travel across time zones. Perform when the schedule demands it.

The body may cooperate for a long time. But I have learned that cooperation is not the same as sustainability.

The body responds to rhythm: activity and stillness, effort and easing, attention and release. We cannot command our way into balance indefinitely.

Technology may allow work to continue without natural stopping points. The responsibility to create those points therefore returns to us.

A sustainable life is not built by remaining at one level of intensity. It is built by respecting the cycles that make energy renewable.

The body is not a machine waiting for better instructions; it is a living rhythm that asks to be respected.
