Meetings can create the feeling of progress without producing movement. People exchange updates, recognise difficulties, and agree that further discussion is required. Everyone leaves informed, but nothing becomes different.
I have learned that a useful meeting should create at least one form of change: a decision becomes clearer, a responsibility becomes assigned, a risk becomes visible, or an obstacle becomes removed.
Not every meeting needs an immediate solution. But every meeting should move the organisation closer to one.
Time spent together is expensive — not only because of the hours involved, but because of everything those people could have been doing instead.

A meeting has created value only when something becomes clearer, owned, or possible afterward.
