Short Short Reflection 08

Strategy That Outlasts Advantages

Reflection 08 · On Strategy & Resilience

1-min read · Looking Inward

Every strategy has an assumption. The real question is: which assumption could bring the entire strategy down? Strong leaders do not build around their biggest advantage. They build around what remains when that advantage disappears.

The strongest organisations do not survive because they are lucky. They survive because they have already tested what could fail. This is the discipline behind every enduring business: before scaling, remove your single point of failure. Across the boards and management teams I have worked with, the ones that lasted anticipated their own fragility long before the market forced them to.

That is the ultimate strategy test. True strategy is not built on what makes you strong today, but on what keeps you standing when it is gone — the quiet discipline of stripping away assumptions until only durable structure remains.

True strategy isn't built on what makes you strong today, but on what keeps you standing when it's gone.
